Easier process for Community College of Beaver County students to continue at Point Park

Thursday, September 10, 2015

Students at Community College of Beaver County now have an easier way to continue toward a four-year degree at Point Park University, while also having the opportunity to complete an associate degree from CCBC.

New formal agreements between the two schools streamline the path for CCBC students interested in pursuing a bachelor's degree in any of more than 80 undergraduate programs offered at Point Park.

“Point Park University has a long tradition of working with other respected institutions to ensure young people have access to a quality education,” Point Park President Paul Hennigan said. “We are excited to build another pathway to success for all students at the Community College of Beaver County.”

The new agreements affect two categories of students at CCBC — those who have completed an associate degree and those who are working toward that.

Students who have earned an CCBC associate degree

Students who have completed the Associate Degree in Arts, the Associate Degree in Science, or the Associate Degree in Applied Science within specified disciplines may continue at Point Park as advanced standing students with junior status. The specific disciplines are:

  • Accounting
  • Biology
  • Biotechnology
  • Criminal Justice
  • Health Sciences
  • Psychology
  • Behavior Sciences
  • Business
  • Business Management
  • Human Resources
  • Liberal Arts
  • English
  • History
  • Media/Communications

Students transferring before earning a CCBC associate degree

Students who transfer at least 15 credit hours and earn at least 12 additional credit hours at Point Park will be awarded an associate degree from CCBC upon notification from Point Park that the students have completed the appropriate academic requirements.

CCBC students interested in continuing their education at Point Park should begin with the Office of Admission.
